Introducing: Jessica Koerner: A Passionate Homeschool Educator and Valuable Addition to our Team

Jenn MacDonald • May 1, 2023

We are thrilled to welcome Jessica Koerner to our team! With her profound love for all living things, extensive knowledge as a master gardener and master naturalist, and a heart overflowing with compassion, Jessica brings a unique perspective and invaluable expertise to our organization. Her dedication to helping those around her and her ability to connect with students on a deep level make her an exceptional educator.

Jessica's educational journey has been marked by a commitment to learning and a desire to make a difference in the lives of children. She pursued her studies at Anderson University and IPFW, graduating in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and an accreditation in Middle School Science. In 2006, she furthered her education by studying Emergent Literacy through IU, Bloomington, working towards her Master's degree. Her thirst for knowledge led her to fulfill a lifelong dream in the summer of 2019 when she graduated from the Indiana Master Naturalist Program through Purdue County Extension. This program allowed her to work closely with Fox Island and Little River Wetlands to preserve natural habitats and wildlife in Fort Wayne.

Jessica's teaching experience is extensive and diverse, covering various educational settings and student populations. She has taught in public elementary school classrooms, worked with struggling readers through small group intensives, taught in an autism specialized preschool, provided private tutoring, and even ran a homeschool co-op in her home for five years. Her commitment to education also led her to teach through the Northside Homeschool Co-op and provide instruction in life skills through Purdue County Extension for four years. Additionally, she is a dedicated homeschooling parent to her own three children, aged 16 to 7.

What sets Jessica apart as an educator is her remarkable ability to adapt to the needs of her students. Having taught children with a wide range of abilities and disabilities, she has gained invaluable experience in differentiating her instruction to meet students where they are. Jessica's unwavering passion for teaching has led her to homeschooling and working with other homeschoolers, allowing her to make a meaningful impact in the lives of many children.

Outside of the classroom, Jessica finds immense joy in serving her children and her husband of 15 years. She possesses a multitude of hobbies, with gardening and painting ranking among her favorites. Her passion for nature and the arts shines through in her teaching, as she seamlessly incorporates her diverse interests into her lessons.

We are excited to announce that you can download any of Jessica's homeschool lesson plans for FREE! This incredible opportunity allows you to benefit from her expertise and enrich your child's education with engaging and well-crafted materials. Jessica's dedication to providing quality education and her generosity in sharing her resources reflect her commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of children.

Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Jessica Koerner. We are honored to have her on our team, and we are confident that her passion, expertise, and unwavering dedication will inspire and empower students to reach their full potential. Together, let's embrace the opportunity to create meaningful educational experiences and foster a love for learning in the hearts of our children.

These free homeschool lesson plans include hands-on topics & books covering a variety of nature topics for your preschoolers. https://www.homeschooling101.net/prek-nature-study Our homeschool group sessions typically last for one hour, so the lesson plans have been designed to accommodate that amount of time, but there is often additional material available. Every week has books, activities, crafts, snacks and/or sensory exploration on that week's topics. Many of the books on this list may be available at your library. Elementary classes are not graded, but fun and interactive learning. WHO IS THIS WRITTEN FOR? Our class was designed for preschool of 3 year olds, 4 year olds and 5 year olds. The homeschool group lesson plans cover 19 weeks of activities. The group meets once a week for an hour to go over the lessons. The lessons are designed so students do all activities in the classroom and bring the learning to life in a group setting with their friends through games, crafts, and activities. If you're not in group classes some of the activities would be excellent for your own individual home school to make these books and a whole year of learning come to life. Since they're free I highly encourage you to download them and look through them even for your own homeschool or group. https://www.homeschooling101.net/prek-nature-study Good luck with your home school and ever forward!
