What You Get for FREE

Open a door to the 1800’s world of the homesteader on the American frontier. Discover that Pa and Caroline were married in the year Abraham Lincoln was elected president. Understand why men moved their families to the frontier. Learn how common diseases of the day had life-changing effects on even the isolated homes of the prairie. See how the U.S. government’s Indian policies affected homesteaders.

Through our study, we’ll learn history, science, literature, and music. We’ll also explore geography, writing, health, nutrition, Bible, character building, life application and more through hands-on activities, games, crafts, video clips, and discussion. We’ll play games, do crafts and explore as many activities of the time as we can fit in.

In addition to their reading assignments, students will be assigned a topic each week to research and “teach the class” for a few mintues. It will be things and events from the reading that week. Kids are welcome to bring in items to show, share, posterboards, hand-outs, lead an activity or just tell us what you’ve learned of your topic.

Every week is party organized around the beloved Little House on the Prairie series.

Each week, I'll post a video to walk your co-op teacher or homeschool mom through how to teach that week's lessons. Almost all the ideas are geared toward having 3 or more kids in a group, but many of the ideas can be used in an individual homeschool. These lessons are provided FREE to help other homeschoolers live in the freedom that homeschooling has brought to our family.
